Aloha! I’m the Bird of Paradise, and I bring the wow factor. My bold, exotic blooms look like a vibrant bird in flight — a symbol of joy and paradise. Though I hail from South Africa, I’ve found a second home here in Hawaii, where I’m celebrated for my dramatic presence in gardens, floral displays, and tropical landscapes.

My banana-like leaves and vivid orange-and-blue flowers make me a standout plant for sunny patios, entryways, and windows. While I take a couple of years to bloom, my foliage is lush and sculptural from the start — a beautiful reward for your patience!

Many think I’m high-maintenance, but I’m actually pretty chill. I love full sun, tolerate some shade, and don’t like soggy feet. With just a little space and bright light, I’ll flourish beautifully indoors or out.
